I’m always down for easy recipes that require minimal prep and cooking time, and one of the best things about this recipe, in my opinion, is the fact that it is actually a no bake recipe.

They’re super easy to put together, and are perfect for holiday season. My entire family loves these delicious bite sized treats, and we enjoy them at Christmas eve and even save some for later.

The flavors are just perfect, and are similar to Oreo cookie balls, but in a much better format.

Tips to Make the Peppermint Oreo Balls

While making these peppermint Oreo balls is super easy, you might want to note down these little tips and tricks too.

IMG 5326
  • I have used white chocolate chips as the coating for the truffles, but if you don’t have those, you can use white candy melts or vanilla almond bark too.
  • If you want to go a step further beyond the regular Oreos and get some more peppermint flavor to these truffles, you can choose to use peppermint Oreos or mint Oreos for the Oreo mixture.
  • I like to melt the almond bark or the candy canes in a double boiler.
  • While you can always transfer the Oreos in a Ziploc bag and crush them using a rolling pin, I like to go the easy way, and just dump them all in a food processor and blitz them. Using a food processor is better in my opinion, because it gets the Oreos into the perfect fine crumbs.
  • If you use a food processor to crush Oreos and turn them into cookie crumbs, you’ll need to make sure you don’t process it too much, or they’ll end up turning into fine powder.
  • Remember to use softened cream cheese while making these Oreo truffles. This will help you shape the truffle balls easily.
  • If the chocolate coating your Oreo cookie balls hasn’t turned into a nice shell, you can add a bit of coconut oil to the melted chocolate.
  • If you want to make these Oreo cookie balls quicker, you can pop them in the freezer until they are solid, then coat them in the melted chocolate, and then freeze them again.
  • You can also bring in some variation and use a mix of white chocolate and dark chocolate or regular milk chocolate to coat the Oreo balls.

How Do I Store the Leftover Truffles?

If you want to store truffles for later, you can allow them to chill in the refrigerator for a few hours and then transfer them to an airtight container lined with wax paper, a cookie sheet or a baking sheet.

Doing this will help keep the truffles from sticking to each other. These can then be refrigerated for 2-7 days, if not more.

Remember that these peppermint Oreo balls cannot stay at room temp for too long.
