Substitutions

  • Cheese: If you don’t have sausage on hand, you can easily substitute it for bacon or ham. You can also use Swiss cheese instead of cheddar.
  • Veggies: Another variation is to add in vegetables such as chopped mushrooms, spinach, and/or green bell pepper for a more heartier quiche.
  • Onion: Some people like to substitute green onions for white onion. This adds a bit of flavor but at the same time, keeps it from being too overpowering.
  • Cream: Finally, you can also substitute cream or milk for the eggs in this recipe if you prefer a richer filling. This will soon become your favorite breakfast sausage quiche recipe.

What To Serve With This Recipe?

  • Garlic Bread or Dinner Rolls: Serve slices of garlic bread or warm dinner rolls alongside the sausage quiche. The buttery, garlicky flavor of the bread complements the savory notes of the quiche, and the soft texture provides a satisfying contrast.
  • Steamed Vegetables: Steamed vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower make a simple and healthy side dish for sausage quiche. Steam the vegetables until tender-crisp, then season lightly with salt and pepper. The freshness and crunch of the vegetables balance the richness of the quiche.
  • Side Salad with Creamy Dressing: Prepare a side salad with crisp lettuce, sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and shredded carrots. Pair the salad with a creamy dressing such as ranch or Caesar for added richness. The lightness and acidity of the salad help cut through the richness of the quiche, while the creamy dressing adds indulgence.
