It’s time to get out that shopping list! You won’t need much for these quick and easy fish tacos. Here’s what you need:
- Tilapia. You’ll need 1 pound of frozen tilapia.
- Taco seasoning. Any taco seasoning will do, but I prefer to get a packet of McCormick Orignal Taco Seasoning Mix.
- Mayonaise. You can’t go wrong with Hellmann’s!
- Lemon juice and lemon zest. You’ll need both for this recipe to make the creamy aioli sauce. It also helps take out the fishy flavor of your fish.

While your fish is cooking, make your aïoli sauce. Mix together the mayonnaise, Minced garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, and a dash of salt and pepper. Set aside and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Step 5: Quick Release
Once the time is completed, do a quick release by bringing the valve toward you.
Step 6: Shred the Tilapia
Shred your tilapia, and place on your favorite taco shell whether it be a low-carb tortilla, lettuce wrap, flour tortilla, or corn!
Step 7: Add your Toppings
Top it with the aïoli sauce, cilantro, and anything else you would enjoy on your fish taco such as tomatoes, cabbage, etc.!
Serve and Enjoy!
How to Avoid Fishy Tasting Fish
If you are worried about your fish tasting too fishy, you can use a little lemon juice for your fish. Simply sprinkle a few drops over each fillet before seasoning with taco seasoning.
Do I Have to Use Tilapia?
White fleshed fish works best for fish tacos. You want a fresh water fish if you choose to use something other than Tilapia.
