Grinch Instant Pot Truffles

Recipe Ingredients

  • Devil’s Food Cake Mix: The base for the truffles, providing a rich, chocolatey flavor.
  • Large Eggs: Bind the ingredients together to form the truffle mixture.
  • Vegetable Oil: Adds moisture, ensuring the truffles are tender and not dry.
  • Water: Activates the cake mix, turning it into a batter.
  • Cream Cheese Frosting: Adds a tangy sweetness and helps bind the truffle mixture.
  • White Baking Chocolate: Melted and colored for the outer coating of the truffles.
  • Green Food Coloring: Used to color the white chocolate, giving the truffles their signature Grinch hue.

How To Make Grinch Instant Pot Truffles?

Step One: Prepare Cake Batter

Make the box cake batter following the instructions on the back of the box of the cake mix.

Step Two: Prepare Cake Pan

Lightly grease your springform cake pan with cooking spray. Pour in your cake mix and cover with aluminum foil.

Step Three: Set Up Instant Pot

Place 1 1/2 cups of water. Place the trivet inside the inner pot. Place your cake pan inside your inner pot on the trivet. 

Step Four: Pressure Cook Cake

Set your Instant Pot to high pressure for 50 minutes. Once the time is up, do a manual release. This will prevent the cake from overcooking.

Step Five: Cool Cake

Remove the cake pan and transfer to a cooling rack. Allow the cake to cool completely.

Step Six: Crumble and Mix Cake

Once your cake has completely cooled, place it in a large bowl, and crumble. Add in your frosting to the cake. Mix well. 

Step Seven: Form Cake Balls

Grab a small amount of the cake mix using a cookie scoop or a small spoon. Roll the cake mix between the palms of your hands to form a ball. Place on a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place in the freezer for 15 minutes.

Step Eight: Melt Chocolate

In a medium-sized bowl, melt your baking chocolate in the microwave for 30-second intervals until completely melted. Add in your green food coloring until the desired color.

Step Nine: Dip Cake Balls in Chocolate

Remove your cake balls from the freezer. Dip each ball in your green chocolate. Coat completely and transfer to parchment paper to allow the chocolate to harden.

Step Ten: Add Decorations

Immediately place one heart sprinkle on the top of each truffle before the chocolate hardens. Once the chocolate has hardened.

Step Eleven: Enjoy

Once the chocolate has hardened, your cake truffles are ready to enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 box Devil’s Food Cake

  • 4 tbsp cream cheese frosting
  • 6 squares of white baking chocolate
  • Green food coloring
  • 35 Red heart sprinkles
