What Are Mummy Hot Dogs

Mummy hot dogs are simply hot dogs wrapped in pre-made croissant dough. They are fun and spooky-looking Halloween party food treats that are bound to be a big hit with everyone, both kids and adults alike!

Why Are Halloween Hot Dogs Popular

Well, first of all they are really cute. But I think the main reason is that they are so easy to make. You don’t have to be a great cook or baker to make these. Just about anyone can do it.

Best Crescent Dough For Halloween Party Hotdogs

I used Pillsbury Crescent Rolls because they are so easy to work with, but you could also use pre-made puff pastry dough as well.

Fun Halloween Food

This fun Halloween party food idea is great for trick or treat night and is much more fun than regular hot dogs. It’s a good alternative to the hot dog bun and is one of my favorite recipes for Halloween.

INGREDIENTS FOR HALLOWEEN HOTDOGS

  • Hot dogs
  • Crescent roll dough
  • Edible Eyes
  • ½ teaspoon mustard
  • 1 egg
prepare the ingredients

HOW TO MAKE HALLOWEEN HOTDOGS

Preheat the oven to 350F.Unroll the crescent roll and flatten the dough till it’s even. You can use whatever kind of dough you want. In this case, I used crescent roll dough.

Cut the dough into thin strips with a sharp knife from the top of the dough to the bottom so they are long. You will probably need two trips per hot dog.

Cut the dough into strips

Roll the strip of dough around the hot dog creating bandages leaving space for the head.
Don’t cover the hot dog completely. Repeat with the remaining hot dogs

Place the hot dogs on a baking sheet and brush them with egg wash so they look golden
brown. Bake for about 15 minutes

Remove from the oven and add the candy eyes using a dot of mustard or ketchup where the
face of the mummy is.

More Fun Halloween Food Ideas

For more fun Halloween party food ideas why not try some of the following:

Halloween Hot Dog Fingers

Try using hot dogs without the casing for this one. Just cut the hot dog into 4 equal pieces lengthwise.

Make sure to not cut them all the way through, you just want to score them to create the look of finger joints.

Then curl each “finger” by gently pressing down on the center of each one to create a nail bed.

These are great served with ketchup for dipping. That would make a great bloody effect.

Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

These are always a hit with the kids. You can make them into any shape you want using cookie cutters.

I like to use Halloween-themed ones such as ghosts, bats, and pumpkins.

Halloween Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

This is a really easy treat to make and only requires 3 ingredients. Dip the pretzel into melted chocolate and then add your favorite Halloween toppings.

I like to use sprinkles, candy eyes, and chopped chopped-upars.

Halloween Mummy Meatballs

Try making similar Halloween treats by using meatballs instead of hot dogs. You can find the best recipe for Halloween Mummy Meatballs over at The Inspiration Edit.
