Well today I’m sharing a quick and simple BBQ Chicken toasted sandwiches recipe which is perfect for a busy night as it’s super fast and quick to make.

What Do They Call Toasted Sandwiches Around The World?

Did you know a toasted sandwich has a different name depending on where abouts in the world you live. In the UK they call it a toasted sandwich Or toastie, in America grilled cheese. In Australia it’s called a Jaffle, it’s known as a Panini in Italy and a croque monsieur in France.

Whatever you choose to call it, a toasty can be super delicious with the right ingredients and this tasty BBQ Chicken toasted sandwich is just that!

Ingredients For BBQ Chicken Toastie

For this quick and simple recipe you will need the following ingredients:

  • 4 chicken boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup water or broth
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce of your choice
  • hamburger pickles for topping – optional
  • Texas toast bread (or any thick sandwich bread)

How To Make The BBQ Chicken Filling In The Instant Pot

Step One:

Place one cup of water or broth into the Instant Pot. Add chicken to the instant pot and place the lid on the pot. Set the valve to the closed position.

Step Two:

Set to high pressure for 10 minutes. Once the pot stops counting and beeps release the pressure from opening the valve.

Step Three:

Remove the chicken to a bowl. Drain the liquid and shred your chicken with a fork, placing it back into the instant pot.

Turn the saute button on low. Pour in your favorite barbecue sauce and stir well. The saute will heat the sauce through. Turn off after one minute.

Step Four:

Toast the bread and top with shredded chicken and pickles. Onions are great as well but optional.

The BBQ chicken toasted sandwich is an American favorite. It’s even more popular when you have guests over for a cookout in the backyard.
