🔪How to Make Teriyaki Chicken Burgers
Making your pineapple teriyaki chicken burger has never been easier! Just follow the simple steps below for an easy, lean protein meal.

Step One: Place chicken in a zip lock bag with teriyaki sauce and place in refrigerator for 4-6 hours.

Step Two: Place the marinated chicken on a trivet. Add 1 cup of water to the inner pot. Then, hit your pressure cook or manual button and pressure cook for 7 minutes.

Step Three: Manually release the pressure by flipping the pressure release valve to the venting position.

Step Four: top each piece of chicken with two slices of cheese so that it melts.

Step Five: Finally, place the chicken on a bun, top with 2 slices of fresh pineapple, a slice of tomato, and shredded lettuce. Then, spread 1 tablespoon of mayo on the top bun and place it on the burger.

Step Six: Serve and Enjoy your teriyaki chicken burgers with your favorite sides!

👩🍳 Expert Tips
- Marinate for Maximum Flavor: Combine teriyaki sauce, garlic, ginger, and a dash of sesame oil. Let the chicken patties marinate for at least 30 minutes to infuse them with robust, Asian-inspired flavors.
- Sear for a Perfect Crust: Use the Instant Pot’s sauté mode to quickly brown each side of your patties before pressure cooking. This step locks in juices and creates a delicious, slightly crisp exterior.
- Glaze and Garnish: After pressure cooking, reduce any remaining teriyaki sauce on sauté mode until thickened. Drizzle the concentrated glaze over your burgers and top with sliced green onions for an extra burst of freshness.
💭 FAQs
Teriyaki chicken is sweet and savory. The teriyaki sauce caramelizes during the cooking process giving your chicken a sweet and savory flavor.
Popular toppings include grilled pineapple, lettuce, red onion, Swiss or cheddar cheese, and mayonnaise. Some people also add a wasabi or sriracha mayo for an extra kick.
Yes! Ground chicken or turkey works well with teriyaki flavors. Since they are leaner meats, adding an egg or breadcrumbs can help keep the patty moist and prevent it from falling apart.
Marinating isn't necessary, but it can add deeper flavor. Letting the patties sit in teriyaki sauce for 30 minutes to an hour before grilling can enhance the taste. Just be sure not to over-marinate, as too much moisture can make the patties fall apart.
You can cook them on a grill, in a skillet, or in an air fryer. If grilling, brush the patties with extra teriyaki sauce in the last few minutes for a delicious glaze.
Allow the burgers to cool (no more than 2 hours after cooking), then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days. For longer storage, wrap individually and freeze for up to 2–3 months. Reheat until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
