Best Spices For Baked Curried Chicken Thighs

There are many different spices that you can use to make this dish. However, the best spices to use are curry powder, paprika, garlic powder, and ginger.

These spices will give the chicken a nice flavor and will also help to keep the baked chicken moist. All the spices needed in this recipe can be found in your local supermarket.

Best Oil For Baking Chicken

When baking chicken, you want to use an oil that has a high smoke point so it doesn’t burn. A good option is avocado oil or olive oil.

We use olive oil in this recipe. This will also give the chicken crispy skin.

How Long Do I Need To Bake My Curry Chicken?

The cook time for this dish will depend on the size of your chicken thighs or breasts.

We recommend cooking for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

Best Curry Powder For Curried Chicken?

There are many different curry powders available on the market. However, we prefer to use a mild or medium good quality curry powder in this recipe. This will give the chicken a nice flavor without being too spicy.

I used McCormick Curry powder in this recipe. You can also use masala, read this article to learn more: What Is Masala?

What Pan Should I Use For Baked Chicken?

I recommend using a baking dish or sheet pan for this recipe. If you don’t have either of those, you can also use an oven-safe skillet.

I love this cast-iron baking tray…it is of great quality and will last for years.

How do you know if the chicken is done baking?

First of all stick to the cooking time in this recipe. The best way to check if the chicken is done baking is to use a meat thermometer.

Stick it into the thickest part of the chicken and make sure that the internal temperature is at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you don’t have a thermometer, you can also check to see if the juices are running clear. Cut into the chicken with a knife and check to see if the juices are clear or still pink.

How Do I Serve Baked Curry Chicken?

This dish can be served with rice and vegetables or on its own. Why not try this fantastic Southern green beans for a green beans recipe or cook this delicious buttery corn on the cob for a great side dish.

Baked Curried Chicken can be served with basmati rice or you could serve it with a baked sweet potato or even roasted.

You can also try cooking Air Fryer Chicken Curry. It tastes divine.

Which is Better Baked Curried Chicken Drumsticks or Chicken Thighs?

Both chicken thighs and drumsticks can be used in this recipe. However, we prefer to use chicken thighs as they are more juicy and flavorful.

Ingredients For This Baked Curry Chicken Recipe

This recipe makes 6 servings.

2 lb. Boneless skinless chicken thighs – you can also use bone in chicken thighs, chicken drumsticks or chicken breast.

2 Tbsp. Olive oil – Olive oil is great for baked chicken as it’s a healthy fat and has a high smoke point so it won’t burn.

3 tsp. Curry powder – I like to use a Madras curry powder for this recipe.

1 tsp. Paprika – smoked paprika is a great option for this recipe.

½ tsp. Ground ginger – the ginger in this recipe gives it a fantastic flavor.

Pinch of cinnamon – a little cinnamon goes a long way in this recipe.

2 tsp. Minced garlic – garlic adds a great flavor to this dish.

Salt and pepper if desired – I don’t usually add salt as the curry powder already contains some. This recipe works well with a pinch of black pepper.
