One of my favorite ways to have ham is fresh out of the Instant Pot. Like most things, the pressure cooker makes ham tender, juicy and full of mouthwatering flavor. If you haven’t tried it, you don’t have to wait until Christmas.
This Instant Pot ham and potatoes recipe makes a great main dish at any time of the year. It’s the perfect holiday meal, Easter ham or even thanksgiving ham recipe. It’s the perfect Instant Pot ham recipe for the holiday table!

For this recipe, you will need to pressure cook the ham on high pressure at 5 minutes per pound of ham. This recipe uses a 4-pound ham which cooks for 20 minutes.
If you’re cooking a holiday ham or larger ham, you’ll need to increase the pressure cooking time as follows:
2 Lb Ham cooks for 10 minutes
4 Lb Ham cooks for 20 minutes
6 Lb Ham cooks for 30 minutes
8 Lb Ham cooks for 40 minutes
10 Lb Ham cooks for 50 minutes
What Size Instant Pot Do I Need For Instant Pot Ham?
This really depends on the size of the ham. Anything under 6lbs will fit nicely into the 6 Qrt Instant Pot. An 8-10Lb ham would fit best in an 8 Qrt 10 Qrt Instant Pot.

To cook a flavorful ham I recommend a honey-baked ham glaze, an orange juice glaze, a mustard ham glaze or a pineapple brown sugar glaze.

In a small bowl, whisk together ¼ cup honey, 1 tablespoon mustard and 2 tablespoons apple juice or apple cider vinegar.
To Make Orange Juice Glaze For This Ham Instant Pot Recipe
In a small bowl, whisk together ½ cup orange juice with ½ teaspoon ground cloves and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon.

Step One: Chop Vegetables
Roughly chop carrots, potatoes and onions into large pieces – no smaller than 2″ each.

Place carrots, potatoes, onion and broth into the instant pot insert.
Step Three: Place Ham In Instant Pot
Place the ham on top of the carrot and potato mixture.

Let the Instant Pot naturally release for about 15 minutes before opening. Open Instant Pot Lid and allow the remaining steam to dissipate.

Boneless or Semi Boneless Ham?
If you’re looking for a traditional Instant Pot Ham, then you’ll want to use a boneless ham. This will be the option and will still cook perfectly with this recipe.
However, if you have a bone-in ham or semi-boneless ham, that will work just as well. Just be sure to increase the pressure cooking time by 4 minutes per pound if using Instant Pot bone ham.
