Cooking Tips

Uniform Sizing: Cut the potatoes into uniform-sized pieces to ensure even cooking. This helps prevent some pieces from becoming too soft while others remain undercooked.

Flavorful Broth: Enhance the dish by using a flavorful broth or stock when cooking. This adds depth to both the ham and potatoes, contributing to a more savory and rich overall taste.

Natural Release for Juiciness: Allow a natural pressure release after cooking the ham in the Instant Pot. This helps the meat retain its juices, resulting in a tender and moist texture. Patience during the release phase contributes to a more succulent ham.

Instant Pot Ham Glaze Options

To cook a flavorful ham I recommend a honey-baked ham glaze, an orange juice glaze, a mustard ham glaze or a pineapple brown sugar glaze.

To Make Honey Baked Ham Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together ¼ cup honey, 1 tablespoon dijon mustard and 2 tablespoons apple juice or apple cider vinegar.

To Make Orange Juice Glaze : In a small bowl, whisk together ½ cup orange juice with ½ teaspoon ground cloves and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon.

To Make Pineapple Brown Sugar Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together ¼ cup brown sugar with 1 tablespoon corn starch and ½ cup pineapple juice.

Storage & Reheating Instructions

  • Refrigerate: Store Instant Pot Ham and Potatoes in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. Use an airtight container to maintain freshness.
  • Freeze: If you have leftovers, let them cool completely and then transfer to airtight freezer containers. Freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
  • Reheating: For a quick reheat, transfer cooked ham to a microwave-safe dish and warm in 30-second intervals until heated through.
